Participants will experience how a course mapping worksheet can positively change faculty's motivation and confidence in online teaching. Hands-on exercise and discussion will be encouraged.
Developing measurable learning objectives and designing learning assessments that align with these objectives are critical in the online course development process. However, it may not be viewed as a "must have" element if a faculty never receives any training in curriculum development and effective teaching.
In this session, the presenters will introduce a simple course mapping worksheet that allows faculty and course developers to effectively measure course alignments among the learning objectives, course content, and assessments.
In addition, workshop participants will also participate in a faculty training exercise that can effectively introduce the concept of course mapping.
At the end of the session, a social work professor from University of Southern Indiana will share her experience how the course mapping worksheet has enhanced her online course development experience, and why faculty should consider conducting this process when developing an online course.
