Extended Abstract:

Digital resources in the form of eTextbooks and learning activities will become common place on all campuses. Algonquin College, a leading institution in North America committed in 2013 to provide all students with etexts and digital resources essential to their learning. Using the Texidium digital resource portal and the Texidium eReader application, Algonquin has partnered with Kivuto Solutions to build a better experience for students. This session will discuss the barriers and results of providing over 70,000 digital resources to 13,000 students each academic year. It will cover the journey a school would have to take to adopt an institutional solution where students no longer purchase their textbooks on their own and instead are provided everything they need through a unified end-to-end digital portal. During the session you will learn about the issues related to assessing new course level fees, the impact on the College's bookstore, and how to manage the deployment of thousands of digital resources ranging from eTextbooks to software, among many other noteworthy finds.
